Gordon Biersch + San Francisco

The project called for an adaptation and reintegration of a historic building through the insertion of a contemporary urban program; the resulting cuts, carvings and deformations became the natural language derived from their conjunction. As an allusion to the tradition of craft in hand-brewed beer-making, the material assemblage of the project explores the tradition of craft in architectural making, and the embedded presence of the hand in its execution and articulation.
