Tokyo Gogo

The project was an exploration of the capacity of light, in various guises, to act as the primary spatial device, thematic protagonist, and formal language of the design. A technique used in Japanese landscape design of borrowing views, using vision to perceptually expand the actual dimension of the space, was adopted as a method of ordering space in the urban field. The material quality of the project constructs a field of neutral tonality which registers constantly shifting conditions of light and hue.
