The project began with the Chinese character for ‘harmony’, meant to distill the essence of the project to a singular quality. The food concept centers around an updated and contemporary take on traditional Chinese cooking, with an emphasis on healthy, local and organic products that are sourced fresh each day. The visual character of the restaurant is a similar hybrid of contemporary and traditional, creating a space that simultaneously looks forward and back, where the red lanterns are computer milled resin, and bamboo abstracted as steel pipe columns.
